The Thief

The heathen crept up silent
no sound the house did hear
each asleep in his own bed
without a thought of fear

Wandering 'round the yard
the mastermind took pause
to listen to the wind whisper
its voice littered with 'prepare'

He slowly made his way
toward the small backdoor
stopped to stare through windows
then closed his eyes and sighed

Within the backdoor window
he saw to his despair
two watching eyes peek through a door
glimpsing through his own

They seemed to tell him something
a thing he'd not want hear
the eyes had brought back memoiries
of many years ago

With shudders and a cringe
the heathen walked away
remebering his daughter
and the last things she had said.
